Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
WHAT ARE THE CLASS RULES?

Other rules include:

For everyone's safety, we don't allow food during training times.

HOW DO I PAY FOR THE TRAINING?

-
Secure Online Payment

Or by cash at the Academy (before or after your training).
If you need to make a payment for your training, please contact Coach Vlad to provide you secure links to process your payment.
NOTE: If you are paying by cash and you require a receipt, please allow a few days for this to be generated and send it to you.
IS THERE A GRADING OR BELT TESTING?
Grading will be Academy specific (not a standard belt-grading). It's designed around what you have actually learned here, not a standard belt system. Every technique, every kick, every concept you train will be tested in a way that reflects real progress, not just time spent on the mat.
IS THERE A FIGHTING COMPETITIONS?
We do not run official external competitions. However, we will organize internal competitions for our students from time to time (voluntarily, student's choice).
These include:
-
Easy sparring: Light, friendly practice with minimal contact.
-
Light sparring: Controlled sparring to practice techniques safely.
-
Full contact sparring: For experienced members who want a more realistic training experience.
All sparring is supervised and safety-focused, but please be aware that injuries can occur, as with any other contact sport.
WHERE ARE SESSIONS HELD?
All training sessions are held outdoors at 92 Markeri St, Mermaid Waters QLD 4218. Fresh air, plenty of open space, public parking and toilets available - just show up ready to train.
When Academy starts conducting classes indoors in a gym, you will be notified immediately.
WHAT IF I MISS A CLASS?
If you miss a session, contact the coach to discuss available options, depending on the program.
AM I TOO OLD TO START TRAINING MARTIAL ARTS?
NO - Age is not a barrier! Training is adapted to suit your ability, mobility, and comfort level. Many students begin later in life with no prior experience.
DO I NEED TO BE FIT TO JOIN?
NO - You don’t need to be fit to begin. Everyone starts at a different level, and training is designed to help you progress step by step when you feel up to it.
WHAT ABOUT TRAINING WOMEN?
Everyone is welcome to join any of our available programs. If you prefer, we also run a self-defence class specifically for women only.
DO YOU HAVE A MEMBERSHIP OPTION?
Currently we offer:
-
Casual options (one off, train when you want/can)
-
10x Session Pass (Discounted price, use the sessions when you want/can)
-
Weekly Package
In the near future we will offer more training/membership options.
WHAT EQUIPMENT OR UNIFORM DO I NEED?
EQUIPMENT:
-
No special equipment is needed to start training. As you progress, certain protective gear will be required for Taekwondo - including shin guards, forearm protectors, groin protectors, body protectors, and a mouth guard. We will let you know when each item is needed and can advise on what to buy and where.
UNIFORM:
-
No special uniform is required to start training. Comfortable workout clothes are perfectly fine for your first sessions. As you progress and settle into the academy, a Taekwondo dobok (uniform) will be recommended for Taekwondo students. Coach Vlad will advise you on when and where to get one when the time is right.
CAN I TRY A FREE CLASS?
YES! We offer a free trial class for new students so you can experience the training and see if it’s a good fit. Yout can book your free trial HERE.
Please note: The Self-Defence (women) workshop does not have a free trial, as it is a structured 6-week program requiring full commitment in groups.
CAN I TAKE PRIVATE LESSONS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR?
If you want to progress quickly, private lessons are the best way to go. Train one-on-one with the Head Coach, who will show you the tips and tricks needed to advance your skills faster. Contact instructor Vlad directly for a free consultation, check availability, and book your session according to your needs.
